PRIORITIES

As an immigrant who has embraced the American Dream, I'm part of a major shift in who calls Dakota County home. While our Dakota County neighbors have been welcoming of immigrant communities, the County Board is not yet representative of our communities. I’m running to change that. I know that all of our livelihood, our children's educational development, and our ability to enjoy our county’s amenities — all rely on the work of the Dakota County Board. I’m ready to get to work so all our communities can truly thrive.

Expanding Access to Dakota’s Resources

For a long time, Dakota County has been short on resources that our neighboring counties have access to. Even today, many residents in Dakota County don’t have access to healthcare, food, housing, and public transit. The Dakota County Board has a responsibility to expand these resources so that every Dakota County resident has access to them. I believe that no Dakota County resident should be left behind.

Improving Dakota’s Infrastructure

Dakota County has some of the worst roads in the state. Some roads have never been paved, while others continue to deteriorate. As your County Commissioner, I will work to invest in infrastructure across the county. Every Dakota County resident deserves to travel on roads that won’t ruin their cars and make their journeys both easier and safer.

Ensuring Public Safety and Mental Health

Public safety and mental health go hand in hand. Dakota County residents deserve to feel safe and be safe. Residents who are struggling with mental health or are in crisis deserve to have access to resources that can help them. As your County Commissioner, I will make sure that Dakota County continues to invest in our first responders. I will also fight to invest in mental health resources, like treatment centers for residents who are struggling with addiction. I am also passionate about increasing services for residents experiencing homelessness by investing in services that make homelessness rare: rental assistance, transitional housing options, and more.

Supporting Small Businesses

During the pandemic, Dakota County lost too many small businesses. As your County Commissioner, I will make sure that businesses have the resources and support they need to thrive and remain as the backbone of our community. We must continue to give grants to people who want to start small businesses as well as keep property taxes manageable for our small businesses.

Investing in public Parks and Libraries

Dakota County is blessed to have some of Minnesota's finest parks and libraries; it’s imperative that we continue to invest in them and their upkeep. I will actively work to increase how much we’re spending on our parks and libraries, and their programming, so that Dakota County residents can enjoy state-of-the-art amenities.

Supporting Economic and Population Growth

Dakota County has been a major growth area of the Twin Cities metro, with rural communities giving way to thriving suburbs within the last couple of generations. With good housing stock, good schools, and a diverse economy, many families and businesses have chosen our leafy, prosperous communities. I support continued growth in a way that will protect our gains through sensible planning, considerate zoning, business attraction, and continued emphasis on green space and recreational amenities.
